It's amazing how quickly your life can change. It's also amazing how you adapt to the changes! Our little girl has taught us so much in such a short time. Like sleep is overrated. And when Daddy is bare chested, that is the time to spit up. Also, little girls peepee when exposed to cold air, too. At least sometimes. Most usually in the middle of the night when you're not functioning fast enough to remember to get that clean diaper under her little bum. And last but definitely not least, she has taught us the meaning of the happy poopy dance. We are thrilled when she poos. Yep. Grown adults. Showing each other poopy diapers. We can SO relate to Bill Cosby's skit about this subject now. We're living it.
Maddy was born 8lbs 15 oz but dropped weight quickly due to jaundice and milk production issues. She was in an incubator under bili lights for 24 hours. Talk about heartbreaking - listening to her cry through the plastic walls of the unit was just that. Fast forward to today - several pedi appointments and a great lactation consultant later, and we're getting our feet under us. There has not been one day since we came home from the hospital last Saturday that we have been able to just STAY. HOME. We've had to get up and out for bloodwork, doctor's appts, etc etc etc. Ay yi yi. It's no small feat getting a new baby and ourselves out the door! We're learning. :) She's back up to 8lbs 2oz from 7lbs 13 oz earlier in the week. Things are going well. We're trying to find a balance between breast feeding, pumping, and supplementing which includes a variety of tools and gadgets. It's quite the adventure!
And on that note, I leave you with more pictures. Because I can. And because I happen to think she is just the cutest thing. Ever.
